Huntington Memorial Library:
The Huntington Memorial Library was donated to the citizens of Oneonta by Henry
E. Huntington in memory of his parents. At one time the Huntington Farm
encompassed all of its present location including the land bordered on Church
Street up to Center Street and the land that the present day Center Street
Elementary School occupies. The
Huntington
Library is a member of the Four County Library System. The Library houses
the notable Beach Collection of railroad pictures, plus the New York State
History Room
The Little Red Caboose:
The Little Red Caboose is located in Neahwa Park, and is a reminder of the
struggle and perseverance of eight Delaware and Hudson Railroad brakemen who
came together in 1883 to help improve the working, salary and safety aspects of
their jobs. These men organized what was to become the "Brotherhood of Railroad
Brakemen." The name was later changed to "The Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen."
Seeley Doll Center: The Seeley Doll Center possesses authentic
reproductions of dolls. Seeley's main office is located at 9 River Street with
the manufacturing plant in the Pony Farm Industrial Park.
Yager Museum: The Yager Museum is located on the
Hartwick College Campus, and houses the
Hartwick Seminary Collection of theological books, the John Burroughs
Collection, and a small collection of James Fenimore Cooper's
writings.
The D & H Railroad: The D & H Railway has been a long standing area
landmark significantly adding to the history of the area. The Bridge Line
Historical Society is the Historical Society for the Delaware and Hudson
Railroad.
Joseph L. Popp, Jr. Butterfly Conservatory:
The Joseph L. Popp Butterfly conservatory is located at
5802 State Highway 7, just outside the city limits of
Oneonta. They are open year round from 9:00 a.m.
to 5:00 p.m., 7 days a week, except holidays. If
you like to experience a few hours in a pure tropical
environment, you will be delighted to visit. For

Historic Sites and Structures
The City of Oneonta is a community which possesses an
extensive inventory of historical buildings and
structures. The City also contains one historic district
located in the Walnut Street area. Understanding the
City's rich historical past allows its current residents
to better understand the City's origins and provides
insight into its founders. It also provides those who
are not familiar with the City of Oneonta, a better
understanding of our community. The following describes
the City's most notable structures by street. Those
structures and sites denoted with an asterisk (*) have
been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
